Management and Supervisor Training

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations requires employers to ensure that all persons who manage or supervise the use of work equipment have adequate training in the safe use of that equipment.

This does not necessarily require a full operators course. A forklift safety awareness course for supervisors or managers is suitable to satisfy this regulation.

The course is primarily theory based and covers:

• The HSAWA and the use of Mechanical Handling Equipment.
• Dangers of incorrect use of Mechanical Handling Equipment.
• Responsibilities of mangers and supervisors.
• Legal responsibilities of Forklift operators.
• Safe and Correct use of Forklifts.

The course duration is usually one day.
