To drive a bus or coach commercially you will require a D licence.
The Vehicle Minimum Test Standard dictates A PCV with more than eight passenger seats, at least 10 meters in length, at least 2.4 meters in width and capable of 80 km/h (50 mph). Tachograph, ABS, seatbelts and examiner mirrors.

To gain a PCV Category D Licence (Coach / Bus) you will need to follow these steps.
- You will need to take a medical with a doctor who will examine you and complete the form D4. (Available from us or Post Offices). Doctors can charge between £65-£100 for this service. For reduced costs, speak to us before arranging your medical examination appointment.
- Complete the Provisional Licence application forms (D2) and send to DVLA along with your medical report obtained from your doctor and await for your new provisional licence to be sent to you.
- Upon arrival of your new licence contact, the office and arrange for a one hour driving assessment. This is normally undertaken to determine the length of course required. (optional)
- Prepare for your theory test by obtaining the DSA Theory book and studying it well.
- Take and pass the theory test.
- Once passed, train on a Category D Vehicle and pass the practical examination.
- Send off your licence and pass certificates and await for your full Category D licence to be returned
