A Banksman is a trained individual responsible for guiding vehicles and plant machinery safely on site, especially where visibility is limited. They use standard hand signals or communication devices to direct movement and ensure everyone stays safe. Having a trained Banksman is not only good practice—it is often a requirement under health and safety regulations, particularly in high-risk environments.
Our comprehensive training covers both theory and practical exercises. Learners will gain a clear understanding of their responsibilities, common hazards, legal requirements, and how to use industry-recognised hand signals. The course also includes instruction on spotting blind spots, safe distances, effective communication, and working with drivers to maintain control of vehicle movements.
BANKSMAN / SIGNALLER TRAINING
Learn correct and safe methods of reversing vehicles, shunting type manoeuvres and operations. This course can apply to all classifications of vehicle manoeuvres and is not limited just to large vehicles.
